I love the trail, not a fan of the jumps' sizes or the couple of awkward corkscrew sections
Do physics change? You know, like wheelbase, inertia and such
There's already TWO freecams: Ctrl+L plus the other one
Is this in the original Zenith Mountain?
Descenders is NOT a good game for perfect replicas, you can still "recreate the feel" of whatever trail but correct replicas won't work
I prefer jumps that only need hopping when you really wanna do something big. I prefer them to flow like in real life, where you don't need to do much to clear most stuff. Outside of that, I liked the idea of a BMX supercross/fourcross track, I hope you try to do more of that in the future (not many trackbuilders have fourcross or even speed&style; courses in mind and I think it could be really really fun considering the game's controls)
As much as some jumps could be built better and the DH track needs a bit more leeway (on the OUTSIDE of corners, not on the inside)... HOLY **** YOU ******* NAILED IT - I love that there're selectable spawn points, I love the teleporting, I love the fact you can join other players... I even love that there's a goddamn BMX supercross track (again, jumps could be better but, damn, you're almost there)
Guys trying to build stuff, ask this ************ how to do teleporting and selectable spawn points - It's not a suggestion, just let him teach you
On text alone, I absolutely LOVE the idea behind - Let me play it for a bit and I'll write something as a reply
Have you considered making any level of "replica" to something like a SSX course? No need to have all the shortcuts, objects and such (who cares?) but, you know, just the main course would be great
I know some people take my comments fairly badly but, if I really thought some author was a ******* without a clue, I wouldn't leave a list of things, I'd just mock
I guess the easiest way to not overload the map is to be repetitive with trees (don't add new models) and other objects. Also, your map looks to be far from heavy right now, I have a very ****** PC (GTX 750 Ti & 8GB RAM) and it runs great.
Nice intentions (I like that you're going for a replica and the width), poor execution in both looks and how a few sections ride
· Once you get into the woods, the course should feel like a corridor, almost claustrophobic
· There're too many uphill sections (Fort William's course is rarely flat, let alone uphill)
· You should signal the must-do jumps like they do IRL
· Because of the game's physics, you've built both good and bad rock gardens. You need to use rocks as obstacles (like moguls or whoops, you've done that), not covering many meters like in real life
· The Motorway (final stretch) should feel like the jump line in Stoker, it's the fastest spot IRL and here it's one of the slowest
KEEP TRYING, you got a few things right!
I HAVEN'T PLAYED IT YET (will comment again when I do) - If it's nearly as good as the Leogang some other guy has done, we got another gem
BTW, do you plan on building any other trail in this map (real or yours)?
Do you plan to add more secondary trails? I'm not talking about replicas necessarily, just more lines. Your almost-replica style is fun to ride.
Man, I don't climb much in real life for a reason 😂
I like the environment, I like the number of trails and the variety... but you need to add checkpoints AND you need to rework a lot of the jumps. I'm at like 4 million points in Career in this game, I've completed all teams and I can't jump most of the stuff in this map cleanly
If I'm entirely honest with you, I really dislike black-speed kind of stuff. This game feels really good up until like 65kph/40mph and the dynamic FOV doesn't help with the higher-speed stuff
· Some sort of sign before must-hop gaps
· Not-so-demanding jumps, always better to have really good players using the brakes or even squashing than rather than have most people moon-jumping a lot of stuff
The trails so far are great, I'd only want you to use more of the island (you have room for more stuff) and maybe have a more selective finishing point, like inside a building or going through a physical gate
IDK if I hate or if I love it...
Those trees are weird, way too skinny
There're plenty of playthroughs on YouTube, I'm sure you can get some inspiration for the next one :-)
My (selfish) dream would be for someone to try to recreate a course from like SSX3 or SSX Tricky, not a perfect replica but something similar. Since the rest of the map would be kinda empty you can fill it with your own stuff
The only way for me to keep track of all the stuff in this map is to use the Alt+F2 freecam
Can't wait till you make another map, I'm sure you can make it even better!
You're saying that the steepest slope probably averages around 30% (no trail goes 100% straight). I wonder what a realistic park would look like in this game (all trails being 9-25% average).
NEVER complain about updates, man. The better you make it, the more people will enjoy it!
Dirt is a bit too dark IMO in a few spots but it rides nicely most of the time
Leogang is where Aaron Gwin notoriously won a World Cup round after breaking his chain on like the 3rd pedalstroke
We need more CPs in both courses, just so we can easily continue after a fall (there're many places to crash!). BTW, it's insane how well the hairpins flow.
You're on to something, you could probably build some amazing BMX supercross-style courses
Always good to be able to finish a run without retiring, makes for better replays IMHO. It doesn't have to be right next to the landing of this or that line, just put it somewhere at the bottom of the quarry
You need to put an easy-to-locate finish area somewhere
Have you considered remaking stuff from SSX Tricky, SSX3 and SSX On Tour? No need to add the shortcuts (not at first) or for the replica to be 1:1 (scaling is gonna need adjustments), just the main course would be megacool
All 3 trails are a bit too similar but all 3 are alright
Yes, I was talking about those poles. Given how "anti-contact" Descenders is, that kind of very small object should always be ride-through or else everyone's gonna just ride on the middle of the track for safety's sake
It's not a bad start, just too steep (and that makes it too short as a side effect) for these controls. I liked the "sunken rocks" (the ones you ride over), some of the trailside rocks are quite annoying.
Top10 mods ever, the rightmost track is very fun once you get it to work --- Please make stakes "ride-through", the fact that such a small object has collision in this game is a big problem (instacrash at speed)
That's a shame, man - If you can change it, please do so. The place is a bit small but it has some fun spots.
You didn't upload it properly, man - Try again!
For real, why would you make tree branches solid? Tree trunks should be solid, branches and leaves shouldn't!
If there's no map (I know it can be tricky), used colored objects so people can remember where they've been. You know, "I've been to the yellow trail, the blue trail and the green trail, let's check the purple trail".
Take out most guardrails and you're on to something, not gonna lie.
PS: Loved the boost pads to go uphill, you need to add that to your future parks 100%!!!
I don't think Descenders works much well with BMX/skate stuff...
Please fill the gaps of the geometry, it's hella confusing at points
I don't get why anything outside the trails has to be so damn rough, I really don't
It's a nice map but a bit more elevation difference would do wonders. I'm not talking about making some 1000m tall island but, you know, something to keep some speed.
Someone needs to try to replicate and adapt some trails from SSX3 and SSX On Tour, I feel you could turn some into insane Descenders maps
I ALWAYS order the list of mods by "last updated" and Kingkrautz is manipulating it to make him appear on top even though he hasn't worked on his levels at all
So what changed now? I don't see any new version...
Almost half-gig? Pass!
I feel like I have no traction, specially whenever I'm on a rock
A lot of jumps go nowhere - Trails are extremely messy too
Recent updates have made this map pretty much unplayable, objects only appear when I'm right in front of them!
So... what did you update?
Nobody listens to me but I still think that wall/hip jumps can really help reset everyone's speed, making jump lines way more fun to play
Spawn points are always more desirable than having to pedal up something. If you can figure it out, it'd improve your map.
I'm not on Discord but I think you can do some better stuff. Some trails need too much pedaling, there're no "special places" (like a dirt jump park or technical stuff). I like the whole "emptiness" and wide trails but you gotta build interesting runs.
If Descenders 2 becomes some kind of "downhill+enduro+freestyle MTB game" instead of the whole "endless runner but with a bicycle", I'd be so so so happy - A bunch of mountains, a whole lot of trails and you gotta beat the times, score high on the FMB runs, find the best rhythm on a mountaincross course, race top to bottom...
So pointless, WTF.
A few notes about the new "objectives":
· The spawn points sometimes throw me 90º or even 180º
· Some routes like Hotel Delinquency's are nonsensical
· More signs or color-coded objects are needed so routes between CPs are not too mysterious
The jump line that leads into the park is pretty much impossible. Also, there is no way to escape the park AFAIK. Outside of that, I just dislike that I have to "hop" the **** out of every single jump to complete them, I feel the jumps would feel much cooler if ramps+speed where enough to send you the whole way.
0.2 - Holy ****, you somehow outdid yourself. The team that made Descenders should look at Stoker Bikepark and be both proud and ashamed of themselves. I don't know who you are but you get what DH MTBing is about and you know how to port it into a videogame (maybe some skinnies are too skinny for Descenders).
PS: Why those "pebbles"? I don't know what you're trying to do with that, that's the only bad thing about this update.
Have you abandoned your compound?
Can you change it so the elevator always goes up and down regardless whether a rider is there or not? You know, like 5 seconds at each stop but always up and down.
It doesn't go down, it stays up even if you restart the trail. You have to go to the "Mods" menu, then reload the trail for the elevator to appear on the bottom again.
PS: Why does the path towards the elevator have to be broken? It's hella annoying to get there.
But the elevator doesn't return until you exit the trail entirely...
I don't crash on the landings but, yeah, they look and feel a bit wrong.
PS: the movie's name is The Moment. I'm 100% sure you've seen it (or bits of the movies they mention), there're a couple of entire sections straight out of that.
Out of all the "colossal" maps, this is the best one. Sure the jumps and berms are very very big but it feels right, you've hit the right note when it comes to upscaling. As much as I like realistic trails, Descenders' physics are not made for that and some realistic maps are straight-up painful.
Looking forward to your next projects (or updates on this one). I gotta say I'd love you to do some kind of "mountaincross" trail with many jumps, rhythm sections and all.
Someone has watched that one Red Bull documentary about the first MTB videos... I like some stuff, nice intentions, but then other things are quite wrong:
· The section after the 2nd skinny is superawkward, asking the rider to drop to the side, then tackle a ramp between the trees that goes nowhere, also jumping to the side, then do a right-left combo to get to the next section. The hip jump right after looks very out of place, making the landing out of terrain would probably look better.
· As someone here already said, the landings are rather short. You need to check out how to build take-offs and landings. Most sites tell to always make the landing a few degrees easier than the take-off (think about a 10-20º difference).
· There're a bit too many uphill sections. Flat is one thing, it's ok to pedal, but uphill grinds the action to a halt.
Have you ever played/heard about Stoker?
Haven't you seen the "Open the mod browser" in the "Mods" section? The mods you're subscribed should auto-download and auto-update in the "Collections" section.
Way too many pedaling sections, ramps are a bit unimaginative (needs more dirt-to-dirt jumps) and in some places you can pretty much get lost. With the skills you have (you're good at wide tracks), I suggest you to recreate something like the SSX3's Snow Jam course. Watch some videos (or play the game) and I'm sure you'll see how you'd be able to make a rather good recreation.
Quite confusing, way too many fail-and-retry sections, some objects are placed quite poorly (the black ramp at the start can only be taken from the right)...
You should give us some "patch notes", Kingkrautz, for real. Even if it's just here on the comments, it'd be nice to know what you're changing.
TIP = Nice map, would've worked better if you transform it into some kind of "Volcano Island" with a beach marking the end.
What did you do in this update, NickExtreme? Give us some "patch notes"! :-)
The jumps don't really fit. Sometimes I land flat, sometimes I almost come up short...
Way too dark, needs some sunlight. Some of the ideas are neat but need more work (like having several ways to jump over the castle's wall). Also, the rightmost trail is a bit too nonsensical, jumps don't make sense.
It has little flow, the size of a lot of things is "odd" to say the least. It's not a bad test but it needs quite some work.
It's basically unfair that you're this damn good. I hope the next update includes another realistic trail and maybe some fourcross-style course (like your freestyle run but with lower jumps, more turns, etc).
